UCLA

Omar I. Asensio is a doctoral student and National Science Foundation (NSF) IGERT Fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His research interests include governance strategies for clean energy innovation, investment and low carbon growth. Omar is currently studying incentives for energy conservation in U.S. electricity markets. He is involved in large-scale field experiments, developing models of energy and behavior at the individual and organizational level. His research focuses on statistical and computational methods, pushing frontier approaches in non-price, information strategies for energy conservation.

Prior to UCLA, Omar worked in corporate strategy and R&D at Avery Dennison Corporation (NYSE: AVY) where he led corporate sustainability and innovation projects based in the U.S. and Europe. Omar helped develop Avery's global sustainability strategy, and launched an eco-friendly product portfolio in the Office and Consumer Products group. Prior to this, Omar began his career in solar photovoltaics (PV), scaling-up solar energy technologies from lab to early-stage commercialization. In prior research, he focused on clean energy R&D, scale-up, and technology transfer activities under U.S. Government contracts with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and U.S. Department of Defense (DOD).
